Right, so then they can charge it before they leave, or some have a backup battery. It does add another level of stuff to do/remember, but I reached out to the person who is currently doing this in our area, and it is working great for them so far!

Hi-

 

I was just chatting about this with one of our genius HH SLPs, and she had a great idea! I haven't tried it yet, but she said it works. 

 

-Get an IR smart plug for the wall outlet

-Drain the battery on the suction machine so it is only getting power from the outlet

-Plug the suction machine into the smart plug and leave it turned 'on'

-Now it can be turned on and off via the smart plug- whether through the remote, or you can of course use the IR controls on most SGDs

 

I can't wait to try it!
