Great question--while my response is based solely on anecdotal evidence, We've heard of this with a few other eye gaze users, and they were using eye tracking systems that have multiple infrared lights shining on the eyes.  My first thought is to see if they have a better result on an eyegaze system that runs with fewer IR lights coming from the eye gaze system.
