Hi all,
Have been using several apps to do phone calls on iOS and awaiting release of a couple others in update to include in the demo.
Have additional videos on the way. The one’s where both sides are on the video have distorted audio due to the feedback from the two phones being in close proximity.
We've tried this with a few apps so far (Speech Assistant, Touch Chat HD and Proloquo2go) and will post more soon.
Important caveats:
-When you place the call, you can NOT hear the message being spoken on your side. Feels a little like a leap of faith that it is being communicated.
-If the app does not give you feedback or you don't notice the feedback (highlight text as it is sent to the partner’s phone), you may think it is not speaking.
So, initially I repeatedly selected 'speak', causing the message to stop and repeat on the receivers side.
-the receiver is hearing both the synthetic speech AND any noise/voices/talking in the background.
