Hi all,

Here at Eyegaze Inc. (formerly LC Technologies) we are developing a procedure to manage remote Eyegaze Edge evaluations.  We will arrange for deliver of a fully sanitized system to the pALS’ home, and coordinate the assessment via TeamViewer and Face Time, utilizing a family member or caregiver to be the Eyegaze rep’s “hands” on-site. The SLP will be able to observe and direct via Face Time.

We have been managing  remote trials and training for years, primarily in countries where we don’t have a rep. We’re also knowledgable about proper disinfection of equipment, which we utilize when we take Eyegaze Edge systems into hospitals. We’ll follow the same procedures when we send a system to someone’s home.

For now, we’re only offering this option to pALS, who typically learn how to use Eyegaze easily, and often have an immediate need.  If you have a client with a different diagnosis, please call or email.  We’ll decide if it’s feasible to do this with clients with other diagnoses on a case-by-case basis.

All the best,

Nancy Cleveland

Hi,
We are all struggling to find ways to provide services to our very vulnerable population right now.  Here is an update from ASHA that I wanted to bring to the attention of people on this list.  While it is not an expansion of telepractice to finally include allied health professionals as telepractice providers, which is what we ultimately need and must keep working on, it is a modest opening to get some sustainable/billable non-face to face care to our patients.
