Hi Ann,
While recording the lectures to use as a model for a speech synthesizer may not have benefits, I have a different viewpoint concerning the employment of this person.
Recording the lectures MAY be beneficial in extending the working career as long as possible since there may be way to use those lectures to teach the course/s online.
Many university’s offer online courses either for the whole course content or as a supplement. I actually teach an online course and have the option of either recording the lectures OR simply uploading power point lectures for the students.
This person should contact the IT department or the online course department at the university for the best method to record these lectures. It can be sound files alone or with video or with the actual lecture… depending on the format the university uses for online coursework. I was able to use an application on my computer and webcam to record the lectures—even used for guest lecturing purposes…

Subject: Question
I received this question for a person living outside The Chapter. Please give me your thoughts:
XX will be teaching a college class beginning today...daily, for two weeks. My sister asked me if there would be any benefit of recording those lectures of Seth's intelligible, strong speech at this time. If so, would you please list those benefits so I can share them with my nephew and his family?
In addition, if you believe this to be a good idea, can you suggest a recording system that would be appropriate in a college lecture situation?
Thanks in advance for your attention and any opinion.
Thanks in advance!!
