Thanks Lisa and Amy. Are people who have tried different options liking SpeakIt the best for Spanish text to speech?

if you downloaded a spanish keyboard from the international keyboard options you'll get the accent marks. On Apr 18, 2012 1:09 PM, "Wright, Amy" <xxxxxx@carolinashealthcare.org> wrote:
Yes, if you add a Spanish keyboard. Go into Settings > General > International > Keyboards.
Once it has been added, you can toggle between English and Spanish (or any others) by selecting the Globe icon which will now appear on the keyboard to the left of the space bar.

Google Translate app does this. I believe you have to be connected to a data network for it. But we used it for an Arabic speaking AAC user. You also need to get a keyboard to the appropriate language, (although that is a little less needed for Spanish than Arabic; my pt tended to not sue all of the characters he should have as there were a lot of access issues getting to alternate characters and accent marks)

One of my iPad users has discovered a translation app which allows him to speak to his brother-in-law from Spain who does not speak English. They have whole conversations back and forth with each of them typing in his native language and the translator converts to the other language.
I believe there are a number to choose from, but if anyone would like the name of the specific one he uses, I can find out…
Just a different approach and perhaps more readily available than finding a TTS in Spanish.
Have a good day.

Hi-
I was corresponding with someone who is going to visit their mother in Venezuela (their mother has ALS).
She is looking for a Spanish AAC App for the iPad.
Has anyone been working with one that they like?
(Or, any Spanish TTS that will work with a communication app?
Thanks!
Margaret
