I just saw Camera Mouse (http://cameramouse.org/) demoed last week, and it looked like it was running as a mouse emulator that should work in any program. Maybe everyone but me already knows about this one, but it was new to me at least.

Hi Edward,
I had similar results and since I lost access to the mouse tool bar frequently I would say it was not an adequate Windows 8 option.  If anyone wants to post the work arounds I would consider it but for now I am going to look at the paid for versions that are designed for Windows 8.

Just because the topic came up a few
times... I did go ahead and try point n click on Windows
8.1. Starting in desktop mode, it seems to work just fine as
it usually would in desktop. I actually cannot seem to
invoke the "charms" menu. But if I have shortcuts preset up
on my desktop that is not as necessary.

If I move into the "Metro" interface, it actually continues
to work but I do not have access to the actual toolbar so I
do not think there is a way to pause it. If I leave it set
for "default to left click" I maneuver around the metro
interface including use of the search menu. I still hear it
clicking if I have auditory feedback set up.

So all in all it is not completely set up for Windows 8, but
I would consider it to be a partially functional
alternative. I spent about 20 minutes on it, so obviously am
More than open to hearing further feedback on the topic.

I contacted PNC on the issue and they said the following.

"We don't have a W8 system to test on but we have been told
by users that PNC will work with W8 but not with the metro
interface.  In the classic interface it is supposed to
have a problem with staying on top of the charm bar".

I believe both of those issues have work arounds but I do
not have access to an 8.1 system to test until Wed.  (I
will try if you would like me too).

 Hi Antoinette,
I did download it but don't seem to be able to activate it
on my Windows 8 device.  Maybe I actually  need to
read the Point-N-Click manual.  The company says they
have not tried it themselves but hear it works.  As
long as you have had sucess with it I will keep trying.
