This is totally a work around, but it is possible to use the keyboard shortcuts for Voice Over to control an app remotely with a bluetooth keyboard.

Here is a great listing of the Voice Over keyboard shortcuts for iOS:

I did a quick check and it seems that NeoKate is a little easier to use with Voice Over, but I think they are both relatively accessible.

Of course when using voice over, you are going to hear all the controls spoken to you since this is the feature designed for blind users.

I use this feature myself with Netflix when I have my iPad physically connected to the TV - I just turn on Voice Over when I need the control and turn it off when not needed.  You can set up voice over to turn on/off with triple clicking the home button in the accessibility features.

Subject: SpeakIt & NeoKate Keyboard Shortcuts?

Hi,
Does anyone know of any keyboard shortcuts for either SpeakIt or NeoKate for "clear" or "speak"?  I have clients who use  bluetooth keyboards with these apps and it really slows them down to stop typing and reach up to the iPad touch screen to perform these common functions.  If you know keys combos that perform these functions or any others on Text to Speech apps please share them with the group.  Thanks!

Sincerely,
