I have had luck with this using an X-10 switch.  The three switch wall mount is wireless and fairly easy to press.

Subject: switch adapted suction device

Hello, I need help on switch adapting suggestions for a suction machine.  The pALS has enough UE movement to hold the suction wand, but turning the suction machine off and on is too hard.  It is a standard DeVilbiss home suction unit.
Thank you for any assistance.
