Add a Bluetooth speaker if you need extra volume, which I am guessing most ambulatory ALS clients in the community do.  Something like the clip speaker which can fit in a pocket…

Ditto from me on iPhone/iPad. My fav apps (though they are pricier) are Assistive Express ($25) and Predictable ($160).

Or a lot of my Bulbar PALS are using the iPhone 6 Plus.

Verbally software is free for the iPad and it's great. Not available on iPhone though.

For iPhone, Speak It and Co:Writer work great

What is your preferred speech generating device for a PALS who has bulbar onset and is ambulating?

I used to recommend the Lightwriter SL40 quite a bit, but last I heard insurance isn’t covering those anymore or they’re no longer being manufactured? Thoughts on this?

I have a patient right now actually (in 5 minutes) who is bulbar onset and looking for a recommendation. I will likely give him a loaner lightwriter for today but looking towards the future what is everyone recommending?
