I got this question from a client - though someone on the list would know more about electriciy than me to answer intelligently...
"I would like to get a backup power source for my Trilogy ventilator, my fully electric bed, and my mattress pump. These are the three items I really need to keep going during power outages. I’ve been told that some people get marine batteries as backup for their Trilogy, but it’s not a very elegant solution, and it does not address the bed and pump.
I’m looking at this product from NPower. Looks good on the surface, but my concern is that it does not produce a pure enough sine wave for the Trilogy and maybe not for the bed either.
The manual for the power supply says:
When unit is supplying backup power from its batteries, its output is a non-sinusoidal modified sine wave, which is different from pure sine wave utility-supplied electricity. Certain types of load equipment which require true sine wave power may be damaged. NOTE: If you are uncertain of compatibility with Backup Power System, contact the equipment manufacturer to determine the rechargeable product’s compatibility with the modified sine wave (non-sinusoidal) AC wave form."
