I wanted to let you know my new app AlphaCore for Windows is now available.

 

AlphaCore is a communication app designed specifically for the communication needs of literate adults with transitioning access abilities.  

We chose Windows as our initial platform because people with ALS often need alternative access options that are not provided by iOS or Android devices.  We also wanted to offer an inexpensive Windows AAC option that eliminated hours of training and customization.  

AlphaCore is equipped with the language-content and organization adults require. Each of AlphaCore’s four keyboards utilize features that optimize communication speed and reduce effort for people using specific access methods.  One layout is designed for the unique needs of keyboard typists, another for those who benefit from a core vocabulary layout, and two are designed for people who require large or extra-large keys.  

AlphaCore’s Topic Pages include customizable stored messages developed with input from families living with ALS and speech therapists about the messages that were most useful or particularly meaningful.

With AlphaCore, users begin to independently personalize messages in moments.  An ever-present “Save” button makes customization fast and simple by avoiding the need for an Edit Mode. 

For users who banked their messages at MessageBanking.com, AlphaCore provides a single-step import.   The Import Button automatically couples each recorded message with its corresponding Message Button in AlphaCore, again saving potentially hours of programming time.   

Currently AlphaCore is available as communication software on FRS' Winslates and Talk To Me Technology's Zuvo speech generating devices.  Additionally, AlphaCore will run on any Windows 8 or 10 off-the-shelf tablet, computer or speech generating devices like Tobii I-Plus Series.
