We received an email from a patient this week with question regarding co-pay pricing on ALS medications. If anyone has any ideas information please email me, see email from patient below.   

 

My co-pay from Cigna for a 90-day supply (Q = 180) of Riluzole was $158 as recently as November 2015.  When I tried to order a refill last week the co-pay had increased to $1337.  Cigna said it was due to a price increase from the manufacturer.  I see three firms are now authorized to market generic riluzole/rilutek.  I've been asking the firms for pricing information but so far no one has responded. I've contacted 5 organizations who offer assistance with co-pays, but none of them cover ALS. 

 

Can the association make inquiries of the manufacturers about current pricing?  Perhaps someone will respond to you.  The firms are Apotex Corp, Glenmark Generics and Sun Pharmaceuticals.
