Voice recognition may be a challenge depending on the severity of her speech impairment.

I would look at WordQ is it has word prediction and it has some abbreviation expansion.  Another option to consider is PhraseExpress (PC only) which is a relatively powerful program that can be used to quickly insert blocks of text.  YOu can also create abbreviations to insert frequently used blocks of text.  If her work includes repeated blocks of text, that would really speed things up.

Subject: Typing software

Hello all,

Do you have any recommendations on typing software programs or voice dictation programs that would simplify typing long text (i.e. report writing) for an individual with left sided ataxia and right sided weakness/spasticity/dystonia. She also has mild ataxic dysarthria and has purchased dragon dictation but not yet begun using it.

I am thinking of a program that has word prediction or anything comparable.  TIA!
