Amy, thank you for sharing this info.  I look forward to seeing you at your session.

I will also be presenting a session at ATIA regarding the communication needs of pALS.  The session is entitled Data-Driven Evaluations for Eye Gaze SGDs and focuses on the Communication Needs Questionnaire (CNQ), a template for evaluating individuals with ALS who need eye gaze for access to SGDs.  The session is from 9:20-10:50 on Friday January 20 in Bonaire 2.  So after you leave Amy's session, please feel free to walk over to Bonaire 2 and join me. Please click here for more information.

I look forward to seeing you at ATIA!

Hi,
I wanted to invite those attending The Assistive Technology Industry Association (ATIA) conference to join me.  I will be presenting a very practical session outlining steps to use the AlphaCore Communication App and the Message Banking App to meet the communication needs of people with ALS.  My session is from 8:00-9:00 on Friday January 20th in CuraCao 5.   Click Here for more details.

The learning objectives for the course are:

Participants will be able to:

  1. Customize an AlphaCore message button, store abbreviation expansions, change voice, speech rate, font size, button feedback and dwell selection settings.
  2. Describe at least 3 features of AlphaCore and how each benefits patients at specific points in the progression of ALS.
  3. Choose the the appropriate layout based on a patient's access abilities.
  4. Describe the quick import process that populates the message buttons in AlphaCore with messages recordings from the Message Banking App.

As always, I enjoy meeting up with all my colleagues who provide AAC and AT services to people with ALS so I will try to organize a lunch or cocktails get-together for us at the hotel or local venue on the 18th or 19th.  Please contact me directly with any preferences (dates, location suggestions, times) if you are interested.  I'm excited to see friends and put names to faces.

Sincerely,
Amy Roman, MS, CCC-SLP
