Subject: Re: criteria for iOS Apps

hi Jeremy

Happy Easter!

Not sure if this helps but :

I tend to go to Apps for AAC criteria by Jane Farrall:

http://www.janefarrall.com/aac-apps-lists/

Also, Boston have done a really good assessment checklist /feature matching to support choosing apps:

http://www.childrenshospital.org/centers-and-services/programs/a-_-e/augmentative-communication-program/downloads/app-and-clinical-feature-matching-handouts

Hope these might help

kind regards

helen

Subject: criteria for iOS Apps

Hi All

I posted this as a request, within a different discussion, a few weeks ago. I didn’t see any replies. I hope that it’s not because anyone thought it was a silly or poorly presented request. I am re-posting it, as we have had another meeting since and would still like to get a steer on this if possible;

... I attended at our regional AAC spending oversight meeting with my SaLT colleagues earlier this week, and there was a lengthy discussion regarding the appropriate choice of text-based iOS Apps for clients between Predictable, P2Gtext and ClaroCom. I suggested to them that I contact this group to see if anyone had developed criteria App choice that could be passed on for reference. For example I feel that the phrases section is easier to navigate to for a switch user in Predicatble than P2Gtext, so if the user is likely to be using the App mainly for pre-generated phrases then Predictable might be the better choice.  Does anyone have any criteria on which they base iOS text-based AAC  App choice?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

Jeremy
