Thanks for sharing! Seemed interesting as well so I reached out to them asking what they plan to charge for the service.  After explaining that I was asking on behalf of the ALS population we work with here is his response:

"Yes! Helping people that lost their voice to sickness is one of our priorities. We plan to offer our service for free for them. We plan to not profit from this specific application, so worst case scenario we will charge them a minimal fee to keep the cover the costs of running the service. Although, ideally, we will be able to cover this costs in some other way."

It's promising!

This article is an about a project called Lyrebird that is developing voice synthesis technology that will create a speech synthesizer based on a person's voice with a one-minute sample! I am also including the link to the Lyrebird site. On the website, it says that Lyrebird's developer API is still under development.
