Hey all, I got this from Bill Janes, the Tech SIS chair from AOTA. Looks like there is an advanced technology push for April AOTA conference next year. Please pass on to the OT/OTA’s you know who do technology or submit yourselves!

Thanks, Amber

SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY-RELATED PRESENTATIONS!

RESNA and the AOTA Technology SIS are working together to give you an exciting new opportunity at the 2018 AOTA Conference in Salt Lake City. For the first time ever, the AOTA Conference will include a TSIS-RESNA Advanced Technology Track. This conference-within-a-conference will include three full days of intermediate and advanced level content geared toward clinicians in the field.

We need you!

Submissions for this special track do not go through the standard AOTA submission process. Instead, there are three ways to submit or recommend content. All are due by 11:59pm Eastern July 14.

  • If you would like to submit a session, please use this form to provide a brief abstract about the work you would like to present. If your proposal is selected, we will request that you then fill out the full AOTA submission form in late July.
  • If you already submitted a session for the 2018 AOTA Conference, but would like to have it considered for this specialty track, please email Bill Janes at xxxxxx@health.missouri.edu with the basic submission information, including Primary Speaker Name and Session Title.
  • If you have an idea of content you would like to recommend but not necessarily present on, please use this form to tell us the topic and suggest potential presenters. We will then reach out to those presenters to solicit submissions.

This opportunity is not limited to Occupational Therapists. Anyone whose work is selected will be required to register for the Conference.

This track is intended for intermediate and advanced technology content aimed at practicing therapists. The content should be readily applicable to clinical practice. Here's how AOTA defines intermediate and advanced content:

  • Intermediate level is geared to practitioners with a general working knowledge of current practice trends and literature related to the subject matter. Focus is on increasing knowledge and competent application of the subject matter.
  • Advanced level is geared to practitioners with a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter based on current theories and standards of practice as well as current literature and research. Focus is on recent advances and trends, and/or research applications. It is expected that a high-level of participation by attendees is encouraged during this session.

Finally, please note that we have some flexibility in the format of these sessions. Workshops and Short courses are of course welcome, but more hands-on sessions are also possible. Tell us about your preferred format in the submission form above.

This is a rare opportunity to share advanced technology content with OT practitioners from across the country.

Please submit your ideas today!
