Hi Everyone,
Lets make coverage of speech generating devices as “routinely purchased durable medical equipment” permanent under the Medicare program.

The House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee is voting on this tomorrow!!!

If you are a constituent of any of the House Energy and Commerce Health Sub committee members (listed below for your convenience) please contact the office and ask them to vote yes on H.R. 2465.  If they are a co-sponsor  already let them know we "caught them being good".

This is a quick way to search by zip code if you are not sure who your congressional district representative is.  Congressional Districts by Zip Code

Calls are best but emails are good too.  Find links to the representatives websites when you click on the names below.

Thanks,
Amy

Subject: Update on the Steve Gleason Enduring Voices Act - COMMITTEE VOTE TOMORROW

Dear Colleagues,

After recent approval by the House Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee (thank you to Lisa Bardach for her testimony), tomorrow the full E&C Committee will vote on the Steve Gleason Enduring Voices Act of 2017. Last night’s press release about tomorrow’s vote included the following:

  • H.R. 2465, the Steve Gleason Enduring Voices Act of 2017, authored by House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Cathy McMorris Rogers (R-WA), House Majority Whip Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA), and Rep. John Larson (D-CT), would make coverage of speech generating devices under “routinely purchased durable medical equipment” permanent under the Medicare program. H.R. 2465 passed #SubHealth by voice vote last month.

While total House sponsorship of the Act is currently 87 Members https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/2465/cosponsors?pageSort=alpha), 14 of 55 E&C Committee Members are either sponsors or co-sponsors.
Below you will see the list of E&C Committee Members. Act sponsorship is indicated in front of their names. While this is short notice, if you are a constituent, or have constituents, in any of these Members’ Congressional districts, please contact their offices and request that they vote for H.R. 2465 at the E&C Committee meeting (and if they have already co-sponsored the Act, thank them for their leadership). As we know, this is a necessary step to ensure affordable access to communication for many who would otherwise have no alternative.
Thank you and all best regards,
Kathy
