You won't be voiding the warranty unless you make some change to the structure of the w/c, such as drilling a hole into it.  even if you remove parts (like foot rests, tie downs, etc,) that does not void the warranty.  the only thing I have done that has potential to void a warranty is when I cut extra tubing out of the way (which I've done when there are curved handrest tubing), and even then, the vendors have all said go ahead and do it.  they will do it for you if you are worried, or you can just ask.

I've been doing my own mounts for about 14 years.  It is often the difference between the pt getting the right mount and not getting one at all.  I found that spending time with the mount vendors at conferences has been great as they usually have their mounts and a few wheelchairs and will help you play to your heart's content.

Re: warranty for the SGD - there is very little that will void one of these.  As I've had more than one vendor say to me, "you can run over it with a truck and we will replace it as long as it's under warranty".

Good luck!

I was wondering if someone could provide me with info. I would like to start installing the mounting hardware on power wheelchairs for aug com devices. Is anyone doing this and is there any concerns of liability or voiding warranties of wheelchairs?

Thanks
