Hi Joy-

I had a client who used it with a headmouse-  She was quadriplegic, and used the headmouse to dial numbers (and access pre-programmed numbers).

It can also be helpful for someone who has limited range of motion—I had a client who could use a laptop, and could dial a phone. However, if her laptop was in front of her, she didn’t have the range of motion to reach the phone… In her case, she used the touchpad on the laptop to dial Skype.

P.S. Amy Roman, who is on this listserv, has created an (awesome!) adult core word user interface for the DynaVox. It’s especially geared for people with ALS.  She has created some really nice onscreen keyboards which are especially designed to interact with Skype.

Leslie,

Do you have anyone that uses it with alternative methods for computer access? How does that work out? I understand how it works,  and think it's a great program...just trying to provide info for our PALS!

Thanks!

Joy,

What kind of information do you need? We use it at our support groups for people who can’t travel to get there, and I use it personally, so I am happy to help you – I just don’t have anything formal in writing.

We would like to provide information on Skype and how it can be a good AT option. Does anyone already have information on this before I create one for our chapter? I know Margaret Cotts presented on it at the national conference, and I’m looking for more specific info. Thanks!
