Hi All- I took a quick skim thru
the PDF manual for the RC 200 and found Chapter 7 which talks about
"radio signals" and they speak of changing the channels for the remote and
the phone via dip switches. So Margaret is correct that this is not
an IR phone.
Hope everyone has a great
weekend.

Betts- I haven't used the RC 200 for a while, so
I could be wrong about this- but I don't think the RC 200 an IR

think if you wanted a wireless IR phone, you would need to use something
like the GEWA. (If you used the PhoneIT you would need to be wired to
the system- it would not be a wireless set
up.) From: Betts

[Assistive Technology] phone access for Eyemax user To: xxxxxx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Date:

I am working with a
PALS who would like to independently make and receive phone calls using her
Vmax/Eyemax system. I helped her get a Clarity RC-200 remote-control
speakerphone (provided free through our state telecommunications access
program), thinking that the Vmax would be able to learn the IR command from
the phone’s remote. However, when I tried it, the Vmax gave an
error message that said something like, “No valid IR command
detected.” I called Dynavox tech support, but they
weren’t able to help. Clarity tech support told me it was a
problem with the Vmax.
Does anyone know how
to set up an RC-200 with a Vmax? The RC-200 has channel settings that
can change the IR signal, and I wondered if that might help, but I have no
idea what settings to use.
Do you have any
other suggestions to allow this person to use the phone
independently? I installed Skype on her system and showed her how to
use it, but she doesn’t seem to like it and hasn’t used it at
all. If the RC-200 doesn’t work out, I am planning to ask the
telecommunications access program if they will provide her with a
PhoneIT. I would appreciate any suggestions for other
options.
Thanks!
