Hi everyone,

I have not heard of this problem in Ohio (or in our region), so I am wondering if it is a typo in your regional booklet?  Jen and Deb are both in CA. Is it a coincidence?

I have asked others in this area if they have had or had difficulty with this issue, and so far no one has had an issue.

I will keep you informed.

Thanks guys!  I know Deborah Bell has already contacted ASHA and Lew, but I will too.  I looked up the IOM NCD that was referenced.  It only explains that SGDs will be covered.  It says nothing of who can charge for the dx and tx.  I've got another phone call into Medicare now.

So, I heard back from Medicare.  They are saying that provider specialty 15 (SLP) is not valid for the procedure codes 92607, 92608 and 92609.  He said specialty 15 is listed as the only specialty who "can't" bill these codes.  My guess is that whoever wrote the manual accidentally typed a can't instead of a can.

He told me to look up internet publication 100-03 Chapter 1, part 1, section 10-80.12 and section 50.1 for more information.  I'll get started filing an appeal.

I really wish ASHA would handle this.  Any suggestions other than going through the appeals process?
