Hi Alisa-

With Etriloquist,  you change the speech settings, so that you can start and stop speech within a paragraph.

I once set up a client who wanted to narrate a slide show.  We embedded a sound file  onto each slide, so he could click on the sound file when he wanted to deliver the little speech for that slide.  (You could have multiple sound files attached to each slide)

I think I suggested to him having 2 laptops for the presentation- One for showing the Powerpoint slides, and another one with his communication software, so he would be able to answer questions off the cuff, without having to get out of PowerPoint.

Hope that helps,

Margaret Cotts

Subject: two questions for the group

I received two emailes from patients that I am looking for help with please.

1.  Also, I checked out the excel "text to speech" capability (interesting), E-Triloquist, and the NextUp Talker free trial.  The later doesn't appear to have the capability of starting and stopping within a paragraph of text, say to support a slide presentation where you might want this type of control.  Do any of the software packages have that feature?  Anyone have any input?

2.  ...we're going to get her a new mini computer, basically so it can speak for her.  Issue being, I wanted to be sure of the operating system.  Most new computers have Windows 7 & I wanted to know if the downloadable programs from you guys is compatible w/ that, or if we need to get Vista or XP.

Any help the group can provide will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Alisa
