Alisa,

I have an Iphone and I use the Dragon Dictation application for text-to-speech. It works pretty good and it is starting to recognize odd words that I use so it is beginning to type them correctly. After I’m done dictating it gives me the option of saving, emailing or texting what I just dictated. Your friend could use that and then email it to herself at home.

Subject: speech to text?

Hello everyone,

I received an email from a colleague and really don't know the answer. See inquiry below.

I assured her I would post this question and hopefully some wise AT person will have an answer.

Any help will be appreciated.

Regards,

Alisa

Do you know of an AT product that will allow
speak to text capabilities? I have degenerative arthritis in my hands that
has destroyed the joints. I no longer have much strength in my fingers that
are crooked and swollen. I do not write fast. And, I type, using Dragon 10
which I understand that there is a program that is compatible with it on the
market. That device is one for which I am searching. I need something small
to speak into that will take notes verbally that will not distract others
and interfere with an ongoing meeting. Then, my hope is that the device will
transcribe the info to written format that I can use electronically. Also, I
need a way to speak into a receiver and dictate into text so I can refer to
notes when at a Conference. This device would be invaluable to me now since
I have difficulty swiftly writing it down on paper.
