If you have time Sunday May 3, I?d like to invite you
to watch America?s News
Headquarters on FOX News. Between 1:30 and 2:00pm Eastern
Time (10:30-11:00 Pacific), FOX is planning to air a segment showing how
assistive communication devices can help people with disabilities such as
ALS, stroke, autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and brain injury.
The segment will
feature Augie Nieto, Chairman of the ALS division of the Muscular Dystrophy
Association (MDA) and founder of Life Fitness, who was diagnosed with ALS
(Lou Gehrig?s Disease) four years ago. Augie will be
communicating in the segment with a DynaVox EyeMax System, which allows
him to speak, send email, watch television, and operate a computer by using
eye movement.
In addition, I
will be on the show and hope to raise awareness that these devices can help
people with many different conditions, and that funding is available from a
number of different sources.
By
Monday afternoon, you will find a page on the DynaVox web site (www.dynavoxtech.com) with a link to the FOX
News video and other information that will be of interest to those new to
AAC.
Please send this
on to any families, speech therapists, teachers, or others who may be
interested.
Thanks,
Jim
