To my assistive
techology "peeps", I need your assistance again. This note is from
the brother of a person with ALS and I could really use some thoughts,
cause I don't specialize in hearing/deaf related issues. Any feedback
appreciated.
I need some help for my sister in law. She is deaf in
both ears and wears hearing aids. She finally went to a support group
and guess what? She can't hear what they are saying so therefore
can't take notes or participate at all. This is upsetting to
her. I wonder if you ever had a problem like this in all the time you
have been doing this. I recommended the head person wear a head mike
but she said that would be fine but when others speak, she can't hear them
either. She can hear you or me face to face but in a big room with
other noises its impossible. I can't believe this happened to
her. I feel very bad she cannot enjoy the company of others because
of her hearing. Do you have any advice about this? Even if the
entire group was audio taped she can't respond or ask questions until the
next months meeting.
