Hi Betts-

I would love the LightWriter printer if no one else wants it. (Does it need a charger?)_

Subject: FREE (ish) AAC devices and accessories

Hi all,

Thanks to the generosity of the families we serve, I have found myself with an abundance of SGDs in my loan closet.  I finally got a volunteer in here to help me go through things and weed out the older devices we no longer need, and now I am hoping to find new homes for them.  They are “free-ish” – I ask that you pay for shipping, and there may be additional costs to repair the device or purchase new batteries or chargers.

All of these devices will probably need new batteries (or can just run on AC power if they’re not going to be moved around).  Some of them are missing chargers or in need of repair, as noted below.  If you email me with the systems you are interested in, I will tell you what I have left and you can decide if it’s worth it to get them repaired or purchase chargers.

-          7 ATI Mercury IIs – All of these have either VS Communicator 3 or Boardmaker SDP with WordPower and other page sets.  Three of them have screen issues (one has 2 lines across one side of the screen, one has weird colors sometimes, and the other screen flickers intermittently) that could probably be fixed.

-          3 DynaMyte 3100s – All have DECtalk voices.  Two work well, but one does not respond to any touch screen input.

-          2 DynaVox 3100s – Both have DECtalk and work well.  One has some light blemishes on the screen surface.

o   I have a total of five 3100 devices, but only two chargers for them.  Chargers will go to the first people to respond with interest in these devices.

-          1 Lightwriter 87 – This is the scanning Lightwriter, with the large scanning module attached.  The screen on the scanning module does not appear to work, but maybe I just don’t understand how to set it up properly.  It works fine for direct entry with the keyboard, but it has a small dent in the plastic on the display that faces the user, and the user’s display screen flickers when you type.  The display for the communication partner works fine.  I have loaned this in the past to a person whose hand function was good enough for a Lightwriter and who used a power chair, so the extra bulk didn’t bother her.  No charger.

-          1 Lightwriter Mini Printer – Works well.  It is battery operated, and uses the same charger as the Lightwriter (no charger included).

-          1 Tracker 2000 Headmouse – This thing is old enough that it has serial ports and its own power supply (included).  It includes a USB adapter.  It turns on and lights up appropriately when it senses a reflective dot, but it did not actually move the cursor around on either of the computers I tried it on (one Windows XP and one Windows 7).  Not sure if it is usable or fixable.

Please email me off list if you are interested in any of this stuff.
