Hi there

Greetings from London England!

I spotted your query and I wondered whether the patient was talking about the Neo by Alphasmart , see:

http://store.alphasmart.co.uk/neo2-uk/

We have a few patients that use these but they actually have no voice output, and are preferred by those who do not want voice output.

Not sure if that helps but it could be what they meant,

Kind regards,

Helen

Subject: [Assistive Technology] neospeak

Question from the group from a Chapter staff person.  Anyone have any input on Neospeak?  Thanks

I am working with a pALS who is resisting using an AAC device because the voices on the equipment he has seen other pALS use sounds too computer-generated.   His wife is asking for information about Neospeak which she describes as “a more natural voice”.  I am not able to find anything about Neospeak on the internet.  Do you know anything about this product?  Or can you recommend a device that comes with a “a more natural voice”.  This pALS speech impairment has advanced beyond being able to do voice banking.

Please feel free to put this message out on the AT listserve for additional input from the group.  Thanks
