First, I want commend you for completing the
installation you completed. Many are nervous to try. As long as
you follow the manufacturers guidelines
and ask questions with challenging installations to guide through the
process you will be fine. I put them on all the time
:-).
I would begin contacting the mount manufacturers to
initiate trainings to develop this skill set. If you can also
find someone in the community to
train you, say an OT/PT/Rehab Engineer, as support that will help you in
the long run.
My philosophy is try it before you buy it. You
wouldn't buy a car without a test drive, right? Same applies to SGD
accessories, especially mounts.
There is nothing worse than a patient waiting to see you for 2 months and
at the appointment you realize this is the wrong mount. Even worse,
now it is not possible to return--ugg!! Trying a variety of
mounts on pwcs and mwcs prior to recommending one for
an SGD is an excellent idea too. Lastly, my suggestion would be to seek any CEUS
where you have an opportunity to place different mounts on a variety of
wheelchair. I found learning
through hands-on experience was my best resource.
Best of luck! Ann

Laura Canetti Personally I would say just install
it yourself if you know how. There are not many people that will do
it otherwise. Maybe the wheelchair vendor
or the company that the pt. bought the device. Good

Hankins, Ron I was wondering if someone could provide me with info. I
would like to start installing the mounting hardware on power wheelchairs
for aug com devices. Is anyone
doing this and is there any concerns of liability or voiding warranties of
wheelchairs? Thanks Ron Hankins
