Hi Amy,

I think you would need to switch back and forth between the apps. The multitasking feature on the iPad should make switching pretty fast, but my older-model iPod Touch does not support multitasking so I havenât been able to try it out.

Hi Betts,

I like the AIM idea.  Can someone use a text to speech app at the same time they use AIM on their iPad?

Sincerely,

Hi Judie,

AT&T has a relay service that works over AIM (AOL Instant Messenger).  Your client could use it with AIM on a computer, or with the AIM app for the iPad/iPod/iPhone.  You can learn more at: http://relayservices.att.com/content/118/How_to_IM_Relay.html

I hope this helps!

Good afternoon everyone,

I received a question from a PALS who is still able to use his hands but is not able to communicate by telephone because of his speech impairment.  He is asking if it is possible to use a laptop or iPad or iPhone to connect to a TTY or HCO system.  He would prefer the iPAD or iPhone over specialized  TTY equipment or a Uniphone.  Thanks very much for your help with an answer.

Judie
