Margaret I was involved with a couple of people using something like this, partly because of skin breakdown due to the usual mask. However they found that it wasn’t a total solution & needed to move between mask & different designs of nose plugs – I’m not clear as to why. It meant that we had to design our head support to cope with differing masks & strapping systems.

I was just speaking the Respiratory Therapist at the ALS Center where I used to work. We were talking about BiPap and AAC (I was mentioning that because a person can’t generally wear eye glasses when they are using a BiPap mask, it can sometimes make using AAC really challenging (i.e. if the person can’t see the computer screen, or low tech board when they have their glasses off.)
The RT mentioned that there is a new mask that she has been recommending that allows a person to wear eyeglasses while they are using the mask. (She has been recommending it in cases when the person has a lot of skin breakdown on their nose)
She was very enthusiastic about it- I just wanted to mention it in case the info was helpful to anyone on the list.
