DynaVox Acquires Eye Response Technologies

Pittsburgh, PA – January 5, 2010 – DynaVox, the leading provider of speech generating devices and symbol-adapted special education software used to assist individuals in overcoming speech, language and learning challenges, today announced that the company has acquired Eye Response Technologies. This acquisition reinforces DynaVox's commitment to providing the appropriate communication solution for each client's unique needs, and further solidifies the company's position as the market and technology leader in the augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) industry.

Eye Response Technologies, a pioneer in the field of eye tracking, develops and manufactures the ERICA line of eye-controlled communication systems. Over the long term, DynaVox expects to integrate aspects of Eye Response's technology to enhance the DynaVox EyeMax product line, especially in the areas of computer access technology.

"This acquisition brings together Eye Response's world-class patented eye tracking technology with DynaVox's extremely popular and market leading EyeMax technology," said Ed Donnelly, CEO of DynaVox. "Our EyeMax system has provided effective communication to so many clients searching for communication solutions. The Eye Response capabilities will help us to introduce even greater and more effective solutions in the future."

Our understanding of the Dynavox purchase of the ERICA - is that Dynavox
only purchased the technology, and they will incorporate it into their
Eyemax products.
It doesn't sound like they will be offering any tech support to any existing
ERICA units... which will be a problem for those of us who have used their
tech support lines to help get the system up and running. We haven't
confirmed this yet, but if anyone else out there has more information about
that - that would be helpful.

Thanks,
