The RC 200 has no IR component, I believe the remote uses RF.  She would probably need to use the PhoneIT or the Gewa phone, (supported by Dynavox); or another IR phone if you have an IR remote that the Dynavox can use…

Subject: [Assistive Technology] phone access for Eyemax user

Hi everybody,

I am working with a PALS who would like to independently make and receive phone calls using her Vmax/Eyemax system.  I helped her get a Clarity RC-200 remote-control speakerphone (provided free through our state telecommunications access program), thinking that the Vmax would be able to learn the IR command from the phone’s remote.  However, when I tried it, the Vmax gave an error message that said something like, “No valid IR command detected.”  I called Dynavox tech support, but they weren’t able to help.  Clarity tech support told me it was a problem with the Vmax.

Does anyone know how to set up an RC-200 with a Vmax?  The RC-200 has channel settings that can change the IR signal, and I wondered if that might help, but I have no idea what settings to use.

Do you have any other suggestions to allow this person to use the phone independently?  I installed Skype on her system and showed her how to use it, but she doesn’t seem to like it and hasn’t used it at all.  If the RC-200 doesn’t work out, I am planning to ask the telecommunications access program if they will provide her with a PhoneIT.  I would appreciate any suggestions for other options.

Thanks!
