Alisa, I’m glad you asked this. I am looking for a quick
screen for patients for clinic too. Last week at our clinic I used the CBS
(Cognitive behavioral screening)
for the very first time. I liked the screening because It seemed simple
and fast. I administered it with three patients to get comfortable with it.
It’s intended to take about 5 minutes but what I found is that
it’s only quick with verbal patients. It took
about 25 minutes with a non verbal patient who prefers to write and 20
minutes with a patient using AAC. While 20 minutes isn’t
normally considered a long time it was too much when there are so many
patients and we still have to cover swallowing and communication.
