Hi,

First, if all avenues have been traveled in respect to the complaints (technology specialist call, family of recipient call, and then national technology person call), then I would think there are 2 avenues to take:

First, you could send a certified letter with delivery confirmation and signature confirmation to the company telling them that you MUST receive resolution or information about the case or you will withdraw the funding packet and pursue a device through a different company.  You can tell the company that if you receive no response by “X” date, you will then consider the contract for funding the device null and void and that you will report the company to the insurance provider.

In addition, you could inform the company that you intent to: (pick or chose what you like)

  1. report the company to the insurance commissioner in your state (every state has one),
  2. report the company to Medicare insurance commissioner (Federal program)
  3. report the company to the Better Business Bureau
  4. report and rate the company poorly on as many internet websites as possible AND inform your colleagues of the issues and recommend that the company never be used for funding AAC devices in the future.

That’s my humble opinion.

Subject: need help for a colleague

Hello all,

I received a message from a colleague of mine and wondered if any of you had any information on how to help her.

Her email to me was:

I want to lodge a formal complaint to someone about the complete lack of customer service I have had with ---- (from Alisa--I purposely deleted that)  I have had 2 funding packages at the company since March and after a dozen calls and emails, I can't even get anyone  to acknowledge whether the files are even there! Besides many other issues with this company.  Any ideas?

Does anyone on this listserv know how to file a formal complaint against an AAC Company?

Thanks,

Alisa
