Each year, the ALS
Association hosts an annual clinical conference to help health care
providers further their education about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
through workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities with
other health care professionals. This three-day conference explores the
science and research of ALS; medical management of ALS, avenues of social
support for people living with ALS, as well as their family members and
caregivers; quality of life; and pulmonary care.
The conference
committee invites healthcare professionals to submit an abstract for
consideration as a workshop presenter. Notification to speakers will
be made approximately August 1.
Speakers are
encouraged to share information related to the medical care and management
of a person with ALS, the impact of disease on the person, family, or
children, psychosocial issues, and caregiver issues. Representatives
from the fields of assistive technology, hospice, mental health,
neurology, neuropsychiatry/psychology, nursing, nutrition,
occupational therapy, palliative care, psychiatry, physical therapy,
pulmonology /respiratory, social work and speech pathology are encouraged
to submit presentation proposals.
