We would provide certificates of completion, including hours attended, which I think would count towards CEU’s if audited, but it is not an official ASHA CEU event.  Hope that answers your question.  Thanks, Emily

Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know about a learning opportunity sponsored by Kaiser Permanente, focusing on multidisciplinary training and education for providers working with people with ALS.  The Kaiser Permanente Interregional ALS Symposium is February 16 and 17th (Friday and Saturday), 2018 in Honolulu Hawaii, and will include speakers who are leaders in the field, including John Costello (who everyone on this listserve is familiar with!) who will be covering AAC, and Dr. Susan Woolley, neuropsychologist from the Forbes Norris  ALS Center at California Pacific Medical Center who will be presenting on cognitive and behavioral changes in patients with ALS.  Registration is pretty affordable at $50 for non-physicians, so the only things to worry about are travel and lodging (group rates offered at Prince Waikiki).  Airfare to Hawaii is pretty affordable from California currently (as low as $350 for roundtrip ticket when I looked yesterday), so worth looking into regardless of where you’re from.

We would love to see Kaiser and non-Kaiser providers participate, whether ST, OT, PT, Respiratory, Dietary, Social Work, etc.!  Please let your colleagues know about this event as well!

Best,

Emily Chin, M.S., CCC-SLP
