Hi all!
I am looking for some help for a patient of mine with a diagnosis of Kennedy’s disease. He attends our ALS clinic. This gentlemen makes a living as a public speaker. His job constantly requires him to give speeches, meetings etc. Recently
he is becoming more and more hypernasal with obvious nasal emissions. He has no onset of dysarthria just hypernasality.
He called today with a lot of questions regarding palatal lifts, exercises, or injections he’d like to consider pursuing as its becoming more difficult to do his job. He lives in the Pasadena area. I am in Fresno. (California)
Does anyone have info or experience with recommending palatal lifts? How about any type of injection to bulk that area within reason? I work most specifically with ALS patients with more advanced dysarthria so I don’t run into this situation
often.
ANY help is appreciated even if it’s just a helpful trick!
Also,
Happy Valentine’s Day!
