Thanks for letting us know about this Amy.  I have not tried it yet with any of my folks that banked their voice.

Hi Erin,

ModelTalker sends my patients a file of their synthesized voice after they have gone through an extensive input process on their home computer with a good mic.   The file they are sent is Sapi 5 compatible so it does work in the DynaVox and Tobii devices.  At this point though it can't be used on the iPAD and I am fairly sure it still can't be used with an Android tablet.  The folks at ModelTalker are working on this limitation though so it may not be a problem for much longer.  The quality of the voice produced really improved about a year or two ago.  The website has some good samples to listen to.

Sincerely,

Subject: Question re: voice banking

Hello,

I am an SLP in Traverse City , Michigan.  I work closely with the ALS population and AAC in our area.  I tend to get bulbar onset folks where voice banking is no longer an option. I currently have a patient with limb onset and he is ready to consider voice banking.  I have received some ideas on websites and software but I wondered if the ALS assoc. had success with  integrating the banked voices with the software for one of the eye gaze devices (Tobii, Dynavox,PRC).

Any input is welcome!

Thanks,

Erin Truog M.A. CCC-SLP
