The client has a Lenovo Thinkpad Twist S230u Ultrabook .  We weren’t sure on the best way to mount the pcEyeGO so that was an issue.  The company uses a small magnet to connect the “camera bar” (for want of a better term) to the laptop screen, but this would not be a good solution because of the “home” button on the Lenova Think pad.  Using two magnets at each end of the metal bracket that hold the device together may be an option, as is using small Velcro tabs.  It would need to have a very low profile to allow the screen to close like a laptop. We did not get into the issue of the “swipe” to wake up the device or to access the “home” so that could be an issue.

The client, himself, had some difficulty in calibrating the device, thought to be related to the small screen size.  I think it had more to do with the client’s positioning and head control, and, perhaps, some changes recently noticed by the neurologist in gaze tracking… don’t know for sure.  He currently uses a madentec tracker pro with the thinkpad and has no difficulty.  He installed Magic Cursor, which the company was not sure would be compatible with Windows 8—but no problems and uses the Windows 8 onscreen keyboard for input.  I completely blank on which text-to-speech program he installed…I will find out and post later, if interested.

Interestingly, his aide used the device with NO PROBLEM and was very efficient and accurate in no time…

So, bottom line, could be a solution, but out-of-pocket cost remains high and would benefit from a longer trial period.

Can you share what the specific catches you observed with the pc EyePro system?

Thanks!

I saw the Tobii ATI pcEyeGO today.

We tried it on a mobile windows computer with windows 8.

It was able to install the software and work for the patient, but there were a few catches that we did not have time to work out.

I thought they are taking orders, but not shipping yet?

Subject: question--eye gaze computer access

I have a client that wants to turn his existing computer into an eye gaze unit.  I am aware of the Eye Tech devices that can be added onto a user’s computer, but anyone know of any other products?  (I know Tobii is coming out with one, but I am looking for this asap)

Thank for any help
