This webinar will provide an overview of considerations and strategies to support patients with communication vulnerabilities in the ICU and acute care setting. Patient profiles of
communication vulnerable patients, phases of communication need, bedside assessment considerations, and implementation of multi-modal communication systems will be reviewed.
Rachel Santiago is
a speech-language pathologist and coordinator of the inpatient Augmentative Communication Program at Boston Children's Hospital. She has focused exclusively on bedside AAC assessment and intervention in the pediatric acute setting for more than seven years.
Rachel has lectured nationally and internationally on patient-provider communication and AAC service delivery in the ICU and acute care setting.
