Hi Amy,
Right now, Audacity is the best solution for
both your questions from our experience. We’ve need to
to do it lots, both for people who have banked many
authentic messages on one recording file as well as for
folks for whom we are using pre-recorded media to create
files to double dip.
Stay
tuned…I hope to have an automatic process to do the
editing/splicing of large files in the next few months.
It is actively in process…but if you want this soon, I
would do the manual labor since, while active, there are
moving parts that have to fall into place with this
project.

Hi
Listserv,
I am working with a fellow
who made recordings of his life story immediately after
being diagnosed with ALS. He recorded them on his iphone
using voice memo. By the time I met him his speech had
declined quite a bit so I want to try to convert these
recordings to wav files to use them for message and voice
banking.
My
first question is, what are peoples favorite software for
converting MPAs to Wav files. I am currently using
Audacity. My second question is do people have any
suggestions for ways to chop a 15 minute sound file down
into smaller recordings. This is going to be time
consuming. Acapela wants clips that are only about 5
seconds long for creating a synthesized voice. Thanks!
