Hi All,
I am posting for a colleague who is working with an older gentleman who has a tobii c12 with eye gaze control. I believe he received the device in 2012 so Medicare is not an option,
It is unlocked, he sends emails and accesses facebook with the device.
He is interested in getting a newer, faster tablet type device with an add-on eye gaze control device. He would use private funding and waiver type funds.
He lives in a nursing facility, cognitive skills and language intact, has a tracheostomy, not ALS but only has eye control.
The therapist is wondering about the lists' opinion on a surface table with eye control via pcEYEgo, my gaze, or other type eye gaze add-on.
We are asking for specifics on managing the technology and tech support outside of the communication software, facility support requirements and additional pros and cons. Currently, his guardian is very involved and the client seems to be doing very well with the c12.
Sales rep is saying that the c12 device is not powerful enough for email, surfing the Internet and facebook and is recommending surface tablet with eye gaze add-on.
Thanks in advance for thoughts, ideas and experience.
