Dear CTCA SIG members, particularly those in the DC Metro Area -

I'm working with a freelance writer who is interested in the following:

* DC metro area professionals (OTs, SLPs, PTs, AT Suppliers) who work with people who are cognizant but have paralysis of almost all of their voluntary muscles (i.e., "locked in syndrome.")

* A DC area patient and or his/her family.

She would like to learn:

* A little about different conditions that can cause this state

* About varied devices, including what is new and cutting edge (THIS WILL BE IMPORTANT)

* Emerging trends in technology, i.e., what the future is beginning to look like, with specific examples of technology in R&D if there is any.

* How this technology is making a difference (what people can do that is "ordinary" for most people but had become impossible for them. Some extraordinary things people have accomplished)

This writer is preparing a pitch for several major news publications, so it will turn into a story if she is able to sell it. She has a good record with the Washington Post, so she's no slouch. If you can help, even if you are not located in the DC Metro Area, or have some ideas about people to contact, please let me know ASAP.
Thanks for your help,

Andrea
