[Assistive Technology] going off and on hospice at various times in order to get an SGD Coggiola, Jennifer L. 07 Oct 2008 00:20 UTC

Hi All-

I wanted to check on a funding question.

Let's say a person has ALS and has gone onto hospice. I've heard of people temporarily going off of hospice in order to receive a device, and then going back on.

I'm assuming the same is true for the evaluation... If a person is on hospice, can they temporarily go off of hospice for the evaluation, and then go back on? (I was contacted by someone who just went onto hospice yesterday, but hasn't started the process of getting an SGD). Would they need to go off hospice the day of the eval or could they just go off on the day it is funded or shipped?

Thanks in advance for your help with this!
