RE: New Handsfree Speakerphone for people with disabilities Dellea, Margaret M. 04 Apr 2011 15:24 UTC

I haven't used the GimpGear device, but have spinal cord patients that use the
BlueAnt very successfully. Biggest problem is that it works only with select
cell phones and that it "hears" commands during conversation and will
periodically say "say a command" when you are not trying to activate it.
Price is right - $100 at Best Buy.

I've not used it before but it got me thinking about the Vocalize!
Wheelchair Bluetooth cell phone voice control system from GimpGear. Has
anyone used this before? http://www.gimpgear.us/vocalize.htm

The BlueAnt S4 Speakerphone allows people with disabilities complete,
handsfree control of their bluetooth capable cell phone. It hangs around
your neck like a necklace. Just say "BlueAnt Speak to Me" and the
Speakerphone responds "Say a Command". Say "Phone Commands" and you are
transferred to the voice dial feature of your cell phone, where you can
call anyone in your contact list just by saying their name. Or call any
other number just by saying the number.

When your cell phone rings, the S4 will announce the caller's number, or
even better, their name if the caller is in your contact list. Just say
"Answer" or "Ignore". If you say "Ignore", the caller is transferred
immediately to your voicemail. Later, you can say "Call Back" to return
the last incoming call.

your clients who might benefit.
