Re: BCI on the Market? Jane Huggins 15 Aug 2011 17:14 UTC

Guger Technologies in Austria does sell a BCI (http://www.intendix.com/).
Their equipment is used in a lot of BCI research labs, but I don't know a
lot about their commercial BCI system or what kind of support they provide
for it. I've heard that the system costs somewhere around $12,000. Guger
Technologies usually distributes their equipment through Cortech
Solutions, based in North Carolina
(http://www.cortechsolutions.com/Products/Physiological-data-acquisition/Systems/intendiX.aspx)
I'd be cautious about spending that much on technology without technical
support, though. There is still a lot we don't understand about BCIs and
I'm not sure the intendix has solved all the issues.

I'll ask some of my BCI colleagues if they know of anyone in the SF area
that could provide support. There are plans for a BCI Meeting in Monterey
in 2013 and it would be wonderful to have an actual BCI user who could
present at the meeting.

It also depends on what you mean by a study. If you are talking about a study that will provide a BCI to use independently in the home, there just aren't many of those yet. The biggest is headquartered in Albany, NY at the Wadsworth Center. They have a multi-site study assiciated with VA hospitals starting up, but I don't know many of the details or where all the sites are.

I have a PALS looking to participate in a brain computer interface (BCI)

opportunity in that area or know how these types of studies usually
advertise for volunteers? Any information would be helpful. Thanks!
